The Best Christmas EVER was a Hugo Winning story from 2004, by James Patrick Kelly.

It tells the story of a pivotal Christmas for a man who happens to be the last man on earth.   I found it powerful, fitting for the season, and a little sad.

When I was younger, my mom would often read the attached story to us as a ritual of winter.  I used to thik it was incredibly sentimental, now I find the Little Matchgirl to be very moving.

Drey, Gar, and I visit Gunston Hall, home of founding father George Mason, for their Christmas Open House.  The evening was a blast-- we toured the Mansion, complete with Living History actors playing the parts of George Mason, Mrs. Mason and the extended Mason family.  Period era refreshments-- venison, mushroom pie, cake, and sylabubb.
